> "The judge awarded 33.5 million dollars to the Goldmans in compensatory and punitive damages, which would amount to an inflation adjusted 56.5 million dollars in 2021 money. Who knows what that adjustment looks like today."
Brilliant methodology for helping people (especially people like me) conceive the true enormity of massive numbers.
I do believe that I subscribed to you when I happened upon a post by HWFO via someone else. This was a couple of weeks ago and you had a graphic illustrating the difference between one million and one billion using time. Was that you? I shared that thing with everyone!
A very curious article. But the protest cost chart was quite helpful. Can't get excited over OJs. Nor insane jury awards that will never be collected. But in those terms we can wonder how many OJs involved in the Russia investigations and now the J6 investigations - the money is of course, other people's money, to pursue political objectives. Aside from adding to a debt that can't ever be paid, like the jury awards, does it matter?

So... $565M in 2024 dollars?
Just some color to OJ's... It's likely he actually didn't do it. His SON did it, and OJ covered for him.
Oh wow, I had never heard that, and it's a very interesting thing to ponder.
The son shares the rare DNA stuff found at the crime scene with his dad is one of the things that lends credibility to the theory.
It explains a lot of the weirdness about the whole affair.
... prompting OJ to flee to Mexico.

This one is worth ten hot air balloon comparisons.
