Nice discussion and I was surprised to hear you bring up the band NOFX. The reference got me motivated to pull out the 'White trash, two heebs, and a bean' album for the today's playlist (despite the fact that they, like Social D went full-retard during the Trump years).

Follow up question / comment. Is it just me, or have you also noticed that the biggest punk fans from the 80s and 90s seem to also be in favor of big government? I was having this discussion with a friend who is about 20 years older than me (he was listening to Black Flag in his teens whereas I was listening to Pennywise). We both noticed that the overwhelming amount of support for Bernie or even Hilary came from this group of individuals. It just strike me as odd that you can listen to the Dead Kennedys sing "Chickenshit conformist" or NOFX "murder the government" and then pull the lever for Sanders when he is the definition of bigger government.

As H.L. Menken said, "Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserves to get it good and hard."

Yeah it's weird, but also don't forget the libertarians voting Red while the Reds can't balance a budget and invented the patriot act.

It's awful and stupid but nobody's being given the choice they want. I can give them a pass for that reason.

Sid Viscious of Sex Pistols fame was quoted as saying how it was odd that todays conservative movement was considered edgy and subversive while the liberal movement was the stodgy ossified fuddy duddys.
